madonna rebel heart tour singapore february 28 2016

11.06am

it has certainly been an exciting year so far for me. with the long december holidays back in 2015 and then it was another long break for the chinese new year and to "end" the month of february, my husband and i went for the madonna rebel heart concert here in singapore. let me tell you, it was freaking EPIC! words just cant describe the feeling. just anticipation, excitement, wondering if its going to be the best concert ever or a flop...fortunately it was awesome. i wouldnt miss this for the world. i mean, i've listened to her songs since i was a teenager and "followed" her all the way till today. she's reinvented herself time and time again over the years and almost hitting 60, she's just as fabulous, still as cheeky as ever and a bit cynical too hahahahhaa! sometimes you gotta be quick to catch her sense of "humor".

by the way, i read online that there were about 25,000 fans that came for this one of a kind, one night only concert. could be true, coz after the concert, oh my god, the taxi queue was damn long and the mrt (trains) were packed with concert goers not to mention massive jams and road blocks in and around the stadium area.

so yeah, that was the info given just before we purchased our tickets. pretty expensive if you asked me! but since it was MADONNA, we had to get one of the cheapest tickets!

yay! tickets purchased and we are ready to go!

before the concert, we went for dinner at a japanese restaurant at kallang leisure mall and so happen, it was facing the national stadium where the concert was being held. this huge shaped dome structure can hold up to about 55,000 sitting capacity.

after dinner, i had to go check out the merchandise stall. 2 stalls were set up, one at one corner  (gate 10 and gate 3) of the stadium to ease "congestion" so that there wont be a super long queue. good move on the organizers i say. i was a bit disappointed that there werent more products on sale like her past albums or dvds, vinyls, tshirts, accessories (if any). items on sale - tshirts, singlets, hoodies, recycle bags, caps, posters, keychains and the rebel heart booklet. i didnt buy anything and it was kinda expensive just to buy a tshirt that cost S$50.00. not worth it.

and then we entered the stadium. it was massive! first thing i noticed upon entering was madonna's stage set up which was a mix with a cross and a heart (as you can see from the pix above). but much to my dismay, the stage was too small and far away (yup, im fully aware that we bought one of the cheapest tickets and thats why we're sitting way over on mars). i mean with a big crowd, there obviously should have been a bigger stage done up, right? oh well, beggers cant be choosers. having said that, they made up for it by having a good sound system, in my opinion. oh i almost forgot to mention that thankfully, my husband reminded me to bring along the binoculars coz somehow we knew that "this" was gonna happen!

inside the stadium, alcohol and soft drinks were sold and we bought us some beers just before the concert started. so cheers to you, maddie! the concert was scheduled to begin at 8pm but it only started almost 9pm and ended around 11pm. thank god she didnt keep us waiting for hours...like what happened in manila, where the fans had to wait for almost 3 hours?! whaaat!!! anyway, dim the lights, here we go!

sorry guys if my photos arent great! as usual, i took them using my handphone so you just gotta bear with me ok. i tried to upload a video and replayed it back but it just wouldnt work. let me try and think of something (if i can) and i will try to plonk it on my next blog, if all goes well, otherwise this will have to do, im afraid :(

the 2 hour concert was high energy. few breaks here and there when maddie interacted with her audience and since there were no kids allowed (M18 rated), she asked her audience permission to swear and of course we all said yes. i mean come on, its the material girl we are talking about here, the queen of pop, an icon, a diva! who are we to say no, right?! madge proceeded to throw us some f-bomb words and even gave us a lesson on swearing properly (so to speak) hahahahahaha... well, she made us all say in spanish "uno, dos, tres, .. catch motherf**kers" (why catch motherf**ckers, i have no idea!). nevermind that, she also used the word p***y , a couple of times. hilarious! im just saying it wouldnt be the same if our dear maddie didnt curse or swear at her any of concerts.

she sang 18 songs in total and when she sung her older hits from back in the 80s and 90s, it was bittersweet! just remembering the good ol days when i was in high school! maddie gave us hits - like a virgin, material girl, deeper and deeper, la isla bonita, true blue (acoustic version), lucky star, music, crazy for you, holiday...etc. it was frigging awesome i tell ya! a slightly touching bit of her concert was when she dedicated a song by edith piaf called la vie en rose to her kids, who are the loves of her life. awwww...bless her!

for her finale, she sang holiday (no flags of country were used) and her final message on the giant video screen was - bye bye bitches! ( so she says she uses the word - bitches - as a term of endearment, hahahahahaha...funny coincidence, same goes for me too!)

all good things must come to an end sadly. it ended all too soon. wished it could've been longer with more songs. nevertheless, she came and she "conquered" singapore in a night. dont know when she will be back or if she is ever coming back this way. but im so chuffed that at least i got to see M-A-D-O-N-N-A live!! what an incredible night it was!

before i end my blog i'd like to add that for what it's worth, madge did not disappoint me despite the fact that the stage was small(which i mentioned earlier). 2 thumbs up from me. nuff said.

meantime, take care and peace to one another, bitches! hehehehe

12.51pm

p/s apologies for my "potty" mouth :D

pp/s during one of her interactions, queen madge complained about the heat in singapore and made the audience lift up their arms to show their "wet" armpits! wakakakakakakaka
